I woke up with long hair, I swear!

I'm stuck. Not so much in a rut, just stuck. I have a ton of stuff going on these past months that is what is keeping me from actually putting a post together. I really want to keep this blog alive, and I'm trying so hard to do so, but lately it's just been kind of crazy around here. I don't want to put this little blog aside, I want to keep it. It's just hard trying to find WHAT to put on here. Well, why don't I just write what has been going on? A lot of it is just sad family stuff (grandparents passing, family health issues, etc.) that I don't want a sad blog. I want a good happy blog and although I am well aware that life isn't all rainbows and unicorns, putting content that is sad time after time can just get heavy. Know what I mean?

I'm not gone. I'm still around. Mainly on FB and on Instagram. Although FB is my personal account, you are more than welcomed to see me via Instagram @ Lily_in_the_sky if you like. I also just recently downloaded Periscope. I've only had one session on there and I may do more. We will see how that goes.

I'm thinking of switching things up around here. I figure switching things up from being a mommy type of blog and just making it be more of a ME blog. More of "A day in the life...." type. I need a space where I can just post about me, include my family if and when I want to, and vent a little. Sort of like a journal. Free therapy, right? Along with a new blog venture, maybe a design more fitting of ME. But I'm pretty sure a new design won't happen until later on.

Speaking of new. Something dreadful happened. I needed a change I was in charge of. I needed something. A hair cut. I'd been itching for a shorter do' for some while and it was driving me nuts. My husband insisted that I would regret it and that I would complain after a few weeks. Mind you, I'm side eyeing that sentence here. So I finally go and take the plunge. I walk into this new salon that someone I know had been raging about. I tell the stylist what I wanted. She snips off some hair. Then some more hair. I woke up this morning with hair to just below the middle of my back. I'd been getting compliments for months on how healthy I had kept it. How I had a ton of hair and how envious people must have been. Back to the stylist, she gave me that new "Lob"/"Blogger Bob" that is instyle right now, but then she started to add layers. This is where everything changed. I kid you, this is what nightmares are made of. After she "added layers" she finished off with the blow dry and curled my hair. After checking the length, I thought the curls she gave me perhaps made my hair look shorter. I paid the girl and went on my way home. I showered and tried to do my hair like she did it. After blow drying straight, I saw it. My hair was not layered, it was hacked!! I'm serious!!I had one front layer at my chin and the other at my ear. They were lopsided, and that's trying to be modest. I cried. I cried so hard. I knew I should have gone back but by that time, my kid was napping and it was late (6pm.)

My husband came home and he just gave me the most "WTF?!" look I had ever seen. He stille says he didn't say it, but he didn't have to with that look. We looked around everywhere for a salon that was still open. We went into Great Clips and although they are a chain store, they saved me. They seriously saved me. They let me cry and they treated me as if they were my BFF's and we both vented about the hack job. The only thing missing was a mimosa or wine. So just like my title, "I woke up with long hair, I swear!" It's been in a pony tail since and some days I feel brave enough to actually wear it "flowing."

Poodle Day Parade + Happy marriage.

It's been like eons since we've had any sort of "family trip." By family trip, I mean the whole family--including the dog. In fact, this trip was based on our dog--sort of. See, I work in the pet field. My bosses groom all sort of furbabies and when my mini family and I were invited to join them for a few days in Monterey, we couldn't say no. So off we all went to the sweet and beautiful bay area called Monterey.

We drove Friday morning, albeit late morning, only to arrive mid-afternoon. This only gave us 2 hours to see all of the wonders that the Monterey Bay Aquarium had to hold. The drive to the aquarium from our hotel was just beautiful.
Cannery Row

This was his reaction to the water fall wall.

Reaction after.

Saturday was just amazing! It was time for Jambi, our Jack Russell-Yorkie Mix, to have some family fun. He saw oodles and oodles of Poodles everywhere. Hence the famous "Poodle Parade." You can see last year's gallery on the Poodle Parade website, but here are two snippets from our trip.

Sesame Street!

The Simpons!

Then it was off to the beach to hang out with. Obviously Michael + sand equals loads of fun as usual. Loads of fun!

This guy is silly. He would run up to meet the waves, but as soon as his little feet touched it, he would back away. lol
Sand + Michael= fun!

What a great way to start our eighth year of marriage.

No good deed goes unpunished. Never again.

Ever try your hardest to be there for people only to have it bite you in the butt? I do and everytime I get bit in the butt, I want to just stop helping people. Seriously!

On Friday I received a text message from my sister in law. She was hoping I could help her out and pick up her two little girls after work (my work.) Sure! Only thing was I needed carseats. She made arrangements with the day care and they would allow me to borrow two car seats. No problem. I arrive at said day care and let me tell you how hard it is to pile up three kids (mine was in the mix as well) and into three car seats. Never again. After the staff at the day care helped me buckle in the kids, I make my way home--with a crying one year old. My child decided to chime in and start wailing too. All of this after a long hard and hot day. Never again.

Once at home, the 1 year old starts screaming at the top of her lungs. She was not happy. So I pick her up and start to try and soothe her. It worked and so I decide to sit down. She wails. Her diaper was dry and she did not want a drink like her sister and cousin (Michael.) I stand up and she stops crying. Okay, I can do this, right? A bright idea come to me and I decide to sit her on top of our wing back chair while I stand--you know, so I don't have to carry her and cheat a little bit. She wails. Never again. After about two hours of toddlers running around, spilling drinks, toys every where, babies wailing their ride come and picks them up. Finally! They go home and now my weekend can start.

Our weekend was mellow. It decided to rain our day to see the Chalk It Up Festival. We miss it every year and  today was no exception. The weather washed off all of the art work, so we decided to go to Hobby Lobby and Walmart. See, mellow.

Now today, back from my mellow weekend, I had to return the borrowed car seats before I started work at 9am. I left home at 8 am you guys. 8 AM!! Never again. Everyone and their mama decided to get stuck in traffic. First day of school traffic didn't help, plus "I'm just getting back from my Labor Day vacation" traffic. This was not fun. Again, Never again. I didn't make it to work until 10am. Luckily I have awesome and understanding bosses (and I kept texting them with statuses on my traffic delay.)

Never again.

Do you see it?! It's coming guys!!

Yesterday as I drove to pick up Steve from work I saw it. You can see little hints of Fall coming and this is really exciting. Fall is my favorite season. I'm sure it's many people's favorite season, why wouldn't it be? Fall means so much to me--it seriously does! It means another anniversary that we are blessed with (10 years together and 8 of those married!!), Halloween, my birthday, the start of the holidays, and best of all new trends for my little guy. I cannot wait for that.

Summer is fun. Yes it is, but I love dressing up Michael in jeans, hoodies, plaid shirts, long sleeves, etc. I only wish he kept his hats on. **shakes fist** I just love dressing him up in a semi-preppy look with a bit of hip-hop thrown in there. Some days we will do an all rocked out look with dark jeans, a band t-shirt, and converse! Again, I wish he would let me dress him up with a hat.

How cute are these boys?! Love it!

This is my absolute favorite look!! Maybe Michael can wear this look soon.

and since Michael is in a wedding come February...this will be him!!

and how cool is this kid?

and this kid?

Definitely a look I'd want for my kid.

and there you have it folks. I can't wait for Fall and all of the wonderful changes (clothing wise especially) that it brings. I guess it's time to go shopping, eh?
