Gayle and her boobs

Angelina Jolie is all over the media these days. Her face is now attached to breast cancer, but in a more positive light. Many have heard that she decided to undergo preventative double mastectomy because of her high risk for breast cancer. Which now leads me to bring the spotlight over to one of my readers/sponsors.

Meet Gayle...

Gayle had learned at the age of 29 that she too was at a high risk. Cancer was a word not unfamiliar to her family and this prompted her to get her preventative double mastectomy at such a young age. Gayle had also decided then to get reconstruction two months later. She wants to get her story out and share it with other women in hopes that it will light a candle to show them that although scary, it doesn't have to be.

Please, please, please head on over to her blog today and read about her story.

Hearing tests + Tantrums + and Guest Posts.

Yesterday was Michael's hearing test. I was a nervous wreck the entire weekend. I kept thinking about all of the "What if's" and kept thinking the worse. Then I kept hoping that there was some sort of remedy to whatever outcome Michael would have. Normally this would ensue my ugly habit of nail biting. I am not a proud owner of this tic. It has taken me forever to get out of the nail biting stage and when Michael's hearing test started to get closer, I was sure that the tic would return. I am relieved that both of those had proven me wrong. Michael's hearing test (and this is not regarding his behavior) was excellent. No problems! And no, no nail biting! Whew! However, Michael hated having anything put in his ears. He thrashed and kicked when his ears were being checked. Even toys or his sippy couldn't calm him down. Not fun at all. I could feel the burning of everyone's eyes. It was so embarrassing! I've never had a moment like that before, but I am glad it's over with--just like the test.

Now, onto some fun stuff. I am being featured on Sonya's Blog: ::A Gray Rainbow:: I just love her blog. Head on over, you will love it!

I'm Featured!

I am so excited that this week, I am a co-host over at “Think Outside the Blog!” When Mama Harris From the Kitchen with Mama Harris contacted me with an invitation, I of course was elated.  Now, this blog hop isn't your normal “DIYer” or “Foodie” or even a “Fashion and Beauty” blog hop, no! This hop is about those of us who don’t normally fit that mold. Myself included. I've tried the DIY route and have failed miserably. I even tried the baking that a lot of bloggers do with Cake Pops and those tasty cookies. But yep, you have guessed it. Failed. However, this doesn’t mean I will not post my many endeavors. Like the one below. This was for my Husband Stevan’s 27th birthday! What was more appropriate than a 1UP for a Nintendo Lover?

Mind you, that took me all day!

New look.

I love purple. I also loved my layout, but I wanted something not do dark. This is when I decided to spruce up my blog a smidge. I just tweaked it a bit and also kept some elements I loved. So here is my new look!

Running Through Parenthood in Heels.

For the past week I have enjoyed reading “Running Through Parenthood in Heels.” Blogger Monica isn’t afraid to talk about her every day happenings. Her blog is about life, her struggles with infertility and finally getting her two miracles. Monica isn’t just your average blogger about all the goodness that happens in her life, but she also talks about her fails (like her son still wearing Pull-ups at age 5.) She’s real. I love that! So please head on over to her blog and read along with me.

How do you blog?

blogs

I’m not asking about what program’s you use or how do you type, but how do you do it? Let me clear it up… I want to blog. I like to blog. However, not everyone in my personal life cares about it like I do, so it’s hard to incorporate that world with this one. For example, yesterday.  Yesterday was awesome! Michael began to take off and started to actually walk! He’s been holding our hands and pulling us in all directions when he wants to walk, but letting go? No way, until yesterday. That there, is WHY I blog, to keep those little memories archived. However, if I want to blog about something as a trip to the local flea market, it’s not as “widely accepted” around here. Sure I can type about my experience at Denios Market, but to take pictures every 15 minutes, not so much.

Maybe it’s because they don’t get how others can connect and learn from others around the web. Maybe because they think it’s like a “Dear Diary” and don’t want their world exposed. Whatever it is, I wish it were easier for me to share with you guys my world.

So, let me ask you again, how do you blog? Is everyone around you accepting of your hobby/work? Do they care about your snapping pictures and posting them via the world wide web (do people call it that still?) Or do they love the fact that they are “famous” when they make an appearance on your blog? Tell me, I’d like to know :)

Dating after baby.

It seems like it has been forever and a day since my husband and I have had some time alone. Obviously we aren't complaining much about it and are enjoying every moment with Michael. However, after reading The Idea's Room "Keep the Sparks Flying" it made me realize that my dear husband and I haven't set some time alone. This is indeed not a good thing. I will say this, we are in no way in imminent danger of having a failing marriage. We are far from that, but that still doesn't mean that we should neglect what has brought us together.

Here are a few of Heather's ideas for conversation starters for you. Hopefully it will help you as well to keep conversation going in your relationship as well.

WHILE YOU EAT YOUR APPETIZER
1. Name three countries you would like to visit.
2. Which celebrity annoys you the most?
3. How would you spend 10,000,000 dollars? (My husband loves this question.)
4. If you could try out any occupation for a year, what would it be?
5. On a scale of 1 to 10 how cool are you?
OVER THE MAIN COURSE
1. If you could rewind to any point in your past, what would you want to relive?
2. If you could take lessons to become an expert at anything, what would it be?
3. How would you spend a perfect day alone?
4. What would you want us to do together for the next ten years if you knew they were our last?
5. What’s the most honest thing you have ever done?
6. How would you like people to describe you at your funeral?

WHILE SHARING DESSERT, or eating your very own
1. Hollywood called, they want to make a movie about your life, who would play you?
2. Name something you love that no one seems to like. (Or name something that everyone seems to love except for you.)
3. What’s the one item you own that you know you should get rid of but never will?
4. Name one thing you miss about our dating years? (Then talk about how you can make it a part of your dating again.)
5. Last one, make it good! What’s something positive about me that you don’t say often enough? (Then decide to say it more.)

10 Things I Love About My Michael....

When I was pregnant, I had decided to join a pregnancy forum. This forum was precisely made for women who were pregnant in April, just like I was. I thought it would be great fun, and informative mind you, to learn about  these pregnancies as I was learning about mine. Now that we have "graduated" from our pregnancies, many of those women have started "Mommyhood Blogs" to chronicle their every day life stories about their new life.  One of the ladies from that forum had an entry on her blog that I absolutely love, aside from that, I also love the concept behind her blog: Love Letters to Sophie, in which her entries are written in letter form for her daughter. Love it!

1. I love when we wake up in the mornings, you look at me and smile. That's when I turn to you and say, "Good Morning!" Your smile gets even bigger. It melts my heart every time.

2. I love when you coo at me after your nap. It's like you are telling me about your dreamland adventures.

3. I love it when you get excited over feedings. You know that it's feeding time when I place your bib or a spit rag around your chin.

4. I love how you look at me when I walk into your room. It's the fact that you know who I am that makes me go ::swoon!::

5. I love how you have gone from crying like a lunatic to actually enjoying your bath. You have matured so much in such a small time frame.

6. I love how you cling to me when I lay you on my chest. It's a bond that only you and I share.

7. I love the way that you let me take pictures and videos of you. One day you won't like these things, but I am glad that I can hold on to these precious moments, at least in this way.

8. I love how excited my family is over you. It is such a blessing to know that you are so loved by many.

9. Did I ever tell you how much I love the way you smell? I don't think I've ever smelled anything sweeter, even when you have a dirty diaper.

10. I love that you let me sleep an extra hour when you lay next to me. You "talk" to me while I do so. Thank you!
